  • Senior Designer for the largest independent architectural lighting design firm in North America with focus on residential, multi-family residential, hospitality, and retail.

    • Responsible for lighting plans, fixture cutsheets, tech specifications, and detailed shop drawings for implantation

    • Cultivated strong relationships with lighting manufacturers, reps, and showrooms

    • Oversaw onsite execution of lighting design, fixture installation, aiming, and final punchlisting.

    • Led, managed, and collaborated with a variety of professionals, contractors, and students including architects, designers, electrical engineers, owners, and clients.

  • Lighting Design Professor at Academy of Art University’s Interior Architecture and Design Program and Canada College’s Interior Design Program.

    • Authored lighting design curriculum

    • Taught hand rendering and verbal/visual presentation skills

    • Provided design critiques to students and working professionals

 

Philosophy

After years of schooling in architecture, environmental design, and interior design in varied regions across the US, it was an unexpected encounter with Light, that began to light my way. The discovery that such a niche industry could have such an overarching impact on how we live and perceive our everyday life, and finally it was clear - light is mood, emotion, power, simplicity, nature, medicine, function, and ever changing. Light Is.

Light is nuanced, and the underdog of design. It exists to highlight everything else that is seen, but is never seen itself. What you and I see is provided because of the light.

Architectural Lighting Design should be a marriage with thoughtful architecture and good design. The absence of thoughtful lighting design can feel basic, and incomplete.

Sometimes light is bold and loud, sometimes light is quiet and humble, but one thing is true, light is fundamental to life.
